Our Emerging Cosmological Mythology

The creative process heals, integrates, it transforms polarity, charts new territory through art and it is intimately connected to who we are as humans both individually and collectively. Join us in May, at Anavami Studio for a seminar, entitled Painting into Our Emerging Cosmology Mythology, based on each individual’s personal archetypes from Pamela Eakins' 10 Powers of Evolution. We will employ the creative process in large format acrylic painting. Each month we will paint into our individual personal archetypes, utilizing our natal charts to align our work with the Cosmic Powers. Please enroll soon to ensure your place. It is a circle that promises greater understanding of your archetypes and enhancement of skills you have developed in the creative process.

If you agree with Joseph Campbell that our two-dimensional heroes and heroines are inadequate to the challenges that confront us, then you may wonder how do we add the needed dimension? If the stories that we have been force-fed no longer function, how do we re-myth our lives and our culture? The answer for me is through creative play. We gain inspiration, impetus and insight through playing. In creative play we experiment, make novel connections and explore possible relationships to each other and the world, as we stretch our ways of perceiving and interacting. As we recognize patterns that no longer serve, we make conscious attitudes that run our lives. Our perceptions and understandings of our identity become more conscious, our relationship to these forces and their functions in our life change. We are talking about here about archetypes.

An archetype is a universally understood symbol or pattern of behavior which has both negative and positive aspects. It is a constellation of energy that is bigger than life. The objective of working with archetypes is to recognize how they are directing our behavior and how we can use them in a more conscious and purposeful way. Everyone knows how a mother archetype embodies the power and stories behind the role and impulses of Mother. Under the sway of the mother archetype you may not notice how you fiercely standup for your children even when they are wrong or misguided. You can often recognize an unbalanced archetype in others, but it is harder to see in yourself. Archetypes are intimately connected to the personal myths of our identity.

Caroline Myss in her book, Sacred Contracts, talks about basic archetypes that everyone shares. She includes a synchronistic system of aligning basic archetypes with aspects of life to recognize the gatekeepers of our life purpose with guidance to use them to magnify our actions and personal power. She says we need to reveal and heal the old stories as an important step in crafting our new story, but we also need to change a pervasive cultural perspective that is not sustainable or equitable. What we need is creative play informed by our evolving cosmology!

In the next year-long painting seminar, Painting into Our Emerging Cosmological Mythology, we will look at our root archetypes through the Greek Pantheon reflected in our astrological natal chart of the planets and signs of the Zodiac, but from a Cosmological perspective. The 10 Evolutionary Powers of the Cosmos speaks to the overarching story steeped in the vast intelligence of nature. Richard Tarnas, the distinguished philosopher and cultural historian wrote a book demonstrating a consistent correspondence between planetary alignments and the archetypal patterns of human history and biography, Cosmos and Psyche, Intimations of a New World View. This kind of understanding has the potential to change paradigms, but we need an even larger view as explored by evolutionary and visionary cosmologist.
In this playful painting seminar we will use creative process to explore and integrate central archetypes in our lives.

Pamela Wylie, www.maycompassionprevail.com, is an astrologer who aligns her astrology with the 10 Powers of the Visionary Cosmology, as a way of exploring personal archetypes in the context of the new science of cosmology which also includes the ancient Western Mystery School structure. The emphasis on the Western Mystery Schools is spiritual knowledge from personal experience and the rejection of blind faith. Pamela invites us to experience the "THE DANCE OF SELF AS COSMOS REVEALED THROUGH YOUR ASTROLOGICAL BIRTH CHART."  This will be an exciting personal journey into a life of Radiant Intuitive Intelligence of the 10 Powers of Visionary Cosmology.

Beginning in May, we will meet four times a month, each session for three hours to begin personally to enter into the re-mything process that is being called for on our planet. We will not be depicting ideas or necessarily painting representationally, but we will engage and experiment with color and markings as images arise from the psyche. We will begin to understand ways in which our perceptions of these archetypes align with the powers of the Universe which move within each of us. Through reflection and integration of the creative process of painting we will begin to re-create our personal stories which claim the powers of the Universe in ourselves, each other and the world. If this is the first time you have tried Transformational Painting there is a special introductory offer. Come play with the archetypes of your identity!

The exhibition of the past year's journey, Painting into Our Emerging Cosmological Identity opens First Friday in April at Vital Body Therapy, 556 Oceanview Ave, across froms Branciforte Plaza. You will seevthe artwork that emerges from this kind of adventure, inviting a new kind of art participation.
